Looking through the glass on Langdon st.

Walking around down town Montpelier is not like your average city or town.  It's funny when I refer to Montpelier as a city people laugh!  This is when I feel the need to inform them that we are indeed the smallest capital "city" in the United states!  I should like to think were quite fond of this idea as well.  Who really believes its all about size anyways theses days?  If there is one thing we do have in Montpelier that is a sense of who we are. We can walk the streets at any given point during the day and see the people we elect every year, the owner of our favorite local coffee shop, a friend or too, our mayor and any well known postal service people all who would gladly give you the time of day.  This is why Sarah, Odin and I live here.  Now those of you who know us well, know that we will soon be leaving and making an exciting change to country living!  But don't forget we love our community here and that's what we truly believe in.  If you don't have community then we all lose something that makes us human.  Were all here because we want to be.   I think its funny when we get seasonal birds in the area and they say "your mountains are so small and your all on big fat skis! Where do you think your skiing?"  This is where I turn inwards and remind my self and the bird and say "Big isn't always better you know!"  Then I say " Your right there isn't any good skiing in Vermont, you should fly back home where things are big my friend!"  Size and location are all a matter of perspective and we love it here because it's small and because it takes you years to find out where the best stashes are in the mountains as you explore them and make new friends.
This is what makes Vermont, Vermont and we love it all the same.  So till next time, when the snow falls you'll probably know where to find us.

Oh and by the way I was lying, theres a little good skiing here in the Green mountains and I would encourage anyone with a little sense of adventure, local or seasonal bird to explore and find it for yourself~!

Cheers!

Screwing and glueing; its that time of year.

Well its that most wonderful time of year where we anxiously await the coming of snow, although more than a few of us at the shop already have at least a couple days under our belts.  But mounting skis is an exciting time, full of happiness and well nausea as well.  As Co-workers help and heckle there's always fun to be had as the tension and jokes flow.  A six pack of beer or a few pints at the Three Penny Taproom is usually suffice to have someone lend an eye and guide the drill as to you make the binding find its way on top of your new ski!  So here's to winter and a steady hand!  and may you find yourself skiing or riding soon; or maybe you already have.

This ones for you Mike; thanks.

To Mike one of my very dear friends who I happened to meet in the great state of Vermont. Three years ago today 2007 we stood atop Mt. Mansfield and the view was spectacular. Lets all thank the good men and women who serve our country everyday regardless of their political  beliefs. It is these people who make the ultimate sacrifice to defend the country we love and call home. I can not express in words just how deeply we need to remind ourselves of this today.  So mike even though we may not have the day atop a mountain as we did three years ago, this day is for you.  Thank you my friend for everything you have given.

T.

Back at it again.

This ones for you Flip.

Off to vote at five! Bump into many good people and friends at town hall including Warren Kitzmiller and Mary Hooper who are running for election.  Then off to the Three Penny Tap room for a pint! A good day  indeed!  It's about getting out a being part of your community and making a choice, yes it might seem insignificant but votes ad up!  I use to not vote, then realized in the great state of Vermont I am truly a part of my community here in the smallest capital city in the United states!  Everyone should want to be heard, we want to hear you!  So here today do yourself a favor and vote.  Wether your a republican, Democrat or independent or neither vote! heck you can right yourself or bigbird in for governor!  Then go celebrate by stopping by your favorite bar perhaps and talk about what you believe in or want to change.  This is by far the freest nation in the world!  For now.. ...that is.. ..

Get out and Vote Vermont!

So get out and vote Vermont! If you complain about the corrupt system and don't vote how are you changing anything? Sitting around and letting other people run "YOUR" country makes no sense at all! Yes its one vote but along with many we can make a difference.
